Launched back in September 2012, the CESG Certified Professional (CCP) Scheme is a key initiative for government and industry in assuring the competence of the cyber security professionals they employ and contract with.

  • CCP is a competency based scheme where applicants are required to provide evidence of applying their cyber security skills and knowledge to real world, workplace situations.
  • The reason, to increase the UK’s ability to tackle cyber security issues head-on throughout both private and public sectors.

Appointed by CESG as a CCP Certifying Body, APMG has been instrumental in taking the CCP scheme to market. CCP has gone from strength to strength with over 1,300 certificates awarded to over 1,000 cyber security professionals to date.

CCP is designed for all professionals working in the information assurance (IA) / cyber security field or for those looking to work in this area. CCP offers 7 specialist roles at different levels of competence which enables employers to attract the right people with the right skills profile and experience.  A really important added benefit is that the CCP scheme is beginning to build a community of highly skilled and competent cyber security professionals which could ultimately form the basis of an emerging UK cyber security profession.

The CCP assessment process is a pre-requisite for individuals seeking CESG Listed Advisor Scheme (CLAS) membership which makes it a must have for any cyber security professional looking to work on UK Government or Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) networks.
