The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is known for collecting, analyzing and publishing a range of statistics which relate to the UK in order to serve the public good and meet domestic and international legal obligations. The work they do affects everyone living in the UK as it informs decisions made about the population, inflation and gross domestic product.
If you’ve been following Craig Kilford’s blog, Mr Portfolio Management, you’ll know that he was the Interim Deputy Director of Portfolio Management at the ONS while they undertook the implementation of portfolio management across the organization, which they did in only 100 days. He has written a case study about the process from understanding the current state of business to learning where they wanted to go and finally how they achieved it. The article highlights how effective portfolio management can lead to better investment decisions, increased collaborative working and a raised morale among employees through engaging and creative methods.
This case study makes for an interesting and highly informative read, so make sure you take some time to read it. It’s available for download here, and if you have any questions Craig will be happy to talk to you, just connect with him on Twitter or via his blog.
